2014

The birth of Selkirk Sport

In 2014, Selkirk Sport LLC launched as a new pickleball paddle creator by brothers Rob and Mike Barnes and their father Jim.

The company released its first set of pickleball paddles, the 200A and 300A, establishing Selkirk as a premium pickleball brand.

The company introduces the Selkirk Sport Warranty Program, becoming the first in the industry to offer a limited lifetime warranty against any manufacturer defect. It is the only pickleball paddle manufacturer to guarantee product quality.

2015

Launch of Selkirk’s Epic paddle shape

In 2015, Selkirk released the Epic pickleball paddle shape, which is still being produced today. The company also offered a variety of composite, graphic, aluminum, and hybrid pickleball paddles.

2016

Pro signing and paddle expansion

Selkirk signs its first professional players. Today, Selkirk’s Elite Pro team boasts a deep roster of the sport’s premier players.

With the introduction of the Maxima, the latest signature paddle co-designed with pro Morgan Evans, Selkirk totaled 10 pickleball paddle models in its lineup. The company also released its first pickleball.

2017

AMPED is released

Selkirk releases the newest line of pickleball paddles: AMPED. Crafted to deliver balanced power and control in one uncompromising paddle, the AMPED pickleball paddles offered the smooth, familiar feel of an all-court paddle, alongside the next-level technology necessary to dominate on the court.

2019

Selkirk Sport Advocate Program & Selkirk Growth Program

Selkirk begins endorsing brand ambassadors who share Selkirk’s passion for pickleball. Today, there are more than 2,000 advocates across 49 states.

The Growth Program is created with a goal to donate 3,000 paddles to schools, non-profit organizations, and first responders. To date, the program has donated more than 25,000 paddles to communities in need all over the world.

2020

SLK brand launches

Selkirk launches the SLK brand to support the next generation of pickleball players by combining comfort, balance, and affordability with the latest paddle technology.

2022

The Power Air is released

Selkirk introduces the VANGUARD Power Air in response to the growing and emphasis on power and spin in professional pickleball. Originally developed as Project 002 in Selkirk Labs, the Power Air is the first researched and developed paddle project to make it to market under the Selkirk line.

2024

PlayPickleball.com

Selkirk launches PlayPickleball.com, a one-stop shop for all picklers in 2024. PlayPickleball includes resources for new players, access to personal lessons and group clinics, pickleball league signups, and information on where to play pickleball in your area.

Catherine Parenteau selects the Selkirk VANGUARD Power Air as her paddle of choice. 

Former tennis Olympian and four-time Grand Slam Champion Jack Sock transitions into the professional pickleball world. He signs with Selkirk Sport and chooses the LUXX Control Air as his paddle of choice.
