It started as an observation
Many pickleball players were using regular running shoes while playing. These are designed to only go forward in a linear direction, lack the ideal traction for a pickleball court, and don’t have the support needed for the game’s sudden lateral movements or pivots. As any pickleball player knows, there’s more to this game than just running in one direction.
As we do with every Selkirk innovation, we first went to the drawing board with a mission:
Create a shoe uniquely designed for pickleball.
When we set out to create a pickleball shoe, we weren’t focused on doing it first — we were focused on doing it right.
Several prototypes later, the LABS S01 and S02 were released to our LABS members for testing and rigorous feedback. Those valuable insights helped us go back to the drawing board, using the learnings from the S01 and S02 to create the CourtStrike and CourtStrike Pro. After additional testing and iterations – improving the rubber and lining to make the shoe lighter and more breathable – they became what they are today.
