What is the difference between the VANGUARD Control and the VANGUARD Pro pickleball paddles?

The new Selkirk VANGUARD Pro is rated for intermediate to advanced players, while the VANGUARD Control is rated for beginner to intermediate. The new paddle is also slightly heavier than the VANGUARD Control, with an average weight of 7.8 - 8.2 oz., and a larger sweet spot than the VANGUARD Control.

The new Selkirk VANGUARD Pro has a 4-Layer 12k Raw Carbon Fiber Face, layered to enhance stiffness and control while maintaining the flexibility necessary for powerful shots. This advanced construction creates a crisp, responsive hybrid paddle face. With 4 layers instead of the standard 2, there is multidirectional support, significantly boosting face durability and offering exceptional spin.

The VANGUARD Pro also includes a thermoformed foam edge, added to enlarge the sweet spot to increase accuracy, the high-density foam injected walls help absorb vibrations from every hit, for a stable, reliable feel, while also increasing power.

The VANGUARD Pro comes in Invikta and Epic shapes, while the VANGUARD Control is available in Invikta, Epic, and S2 shapes.

What is the difference between different pickleball paddle shapes?

The Invikta is the Selkirk elongated shape of pickleball paddle, best for intermediate to advanced players or those with previous racquet sports experience. The Epic is the Selkirk traditional shape of pickleball paddle, best for beginner to intermediate players or those without previous racquet sports experience.

Are Selkirk pickleball paddles USA Pickleball-approved for tournaments?

Yes, all Selkirk and SLK pickleball paddles are USAPA-approved and ready for rec or tournament play.

Do you offer custom weight and grip size?

Custom weight AND grip options are available in the AMPED and VANGUARD Control series, but not yet in the VANGUARD Pro series.
