The prestigious PPA Finals kick off on Wednesday, featuring the top eight singles players and the top sixteen doubles players in mixed and gender divisions, all competing for the coveted Finals trophies. The competition will follow a round-robin format, beginning with two groupings: the 'ATP' pool and the 'Erne' pool. The top contenders from each pool will advance to face off on Saturday, with the final two competing for the title on Championship Sunday.
Team Selkirk will represent in all divisions, with six athletes looking to take the title in San Clemente:
Catherine Parenteau: Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles
Mary Brascia: Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles
Rachel Rohrabacher: Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles
James Ignatowich: Men’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles
Dylan Frazier: Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles
Quang Duong: Men’s Singles
Parenteau: the triple threat
Catherine Parenteau is among the few pros to qualify for all three divisions. She will team up with Christian Alshon in mixed doubles and Anna-Leigh Waters in women’s doubles. Parenteau and Alshon have tested their partnership several times throughout the season, achieving deep runs and podium finishes. At the Atlanta Slam, the No. 4 seeds, Parenteau and Alshon, reached the semifinals, losing only to the top seeds, Ben Johns and Anna-Leigh Waters, by relatively close margins. The Waters-Parenteau duo has been nearly unbeatable, dominating throughout most of the season. Their only losses have been to the No. 2 seeds, Rachel Rohrabacher and Anna Bright.

Quang Duong has been making waves on the tour since joining. The former junior tennis star began the season by defeating Ben Johns at the Masters and has since earned numerous podium finishes, including his first men’s doubles gold and singles gold. Duong’s all-around game has improved significantly, making him a dangerous opponent in all divisions, particularly singles. He will compete in the ‘Erne’ pool against Ben Johns, Connor Garnett, and Tyson McGuffin, all of whom he has defeated before.

Rohrabacher on the rise
Rachel Rohrabacher has been a formidable force on the PPA Tour since turning pro in late 2023. Despite being relatively new to the tour, she has competed alongside top pros Federico Staksrud and Anna Bright for the majority of the 2024 season—two partnerships that have proven highly successful. The Rohrabacher-Bright partnership, commonly known as “the girlies,” has only grown stronger and shows no signs of slowing down. The duo is the only team to consistently rival Anna-Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau. With three victories over the Waters-Parenteau team and seven tour titles this season, Rohrabacher is a top contender to make Championship Sunday in San Clemente.
