2024 looks to be a fruitful year for Team Selkirk, with a growing roster of professional athletes that boasts unmatched depth and talent. Selkirk’s recent signings of top prospects mark a highly anticipated start to the 2024 season, which kicks off with the PPA Masters in Palm Springs, California, on January 9.
A debut that spectators can look forward to in Palm Springs is that of decorated tennis star Jack Sock. Although Sock already holds one PPA title, the PPA Masters will serve as his official debut not only as a committed PPA Tour athlete but also as a Selkirk Sport athlete.
Sock is widely revered in the tennis world as a doubles specialist with numerous accolades to show for it. The former Wimbledon and US Open Champion is known for his quick reflexes, tactical ingenuity, and pinpoint precision, all of which are expected to translate well into his pickleball game. Earlier this year, Sock tested and selected the all-new Luxx Control Air as his paddle of choice and will use it to start the season.
New Season, New Partnerships
In arguably one of the biggest change-ups ahead of the season, tour veteran Catherine Parenteau forged a mixed doubles partnership with Sock. Parenteau, a 33x PPA gold medalist, plays with her signature Vanguard Power Air Invikta paddle, which is well-suited for her dynamic approach on the court. With their complementary play styles of power and placement, the Parenteau-Sock duo is poised to rival the top mixed doubles teams on the tour.
Sock will take the stage with Team Selkirk’s Collin Shick in men’s doubles. Shick, who also comes from a tennis background, had a breakout year in 2023, reaching the finals of the PPA Florida Open as a qualifier. Together, Sock and Shick will be strong contenders to watch this upcoming season.
Look Out for Team Selkirk
In addition to Sock, Lauren Stratman, Rachel Rohrabacher, and Ava Ignatowich are set to make their maiden Team Selkirk appearance in the desert. Be sure to tune in from January 9 - January 14 to catch the action at the PPA Masters.
